dsc03649Why Are We Batiking? 
We are learning how to batik to understand some traditional techniques for adding color and design to a plain fabric.  We are incorporating our knowledge of values and levels of space to create a fiber work of art; broadening our list of fiber manipulation techniques.

Goals of the Assignment: Students will create a batik demonstrating an understanding of using blocks of values to create an image.  Students will choose a color scheme which will compliment the overall image and mood of the work.  The batik will demonstrate the comprehension of wax resist and hand dyeing techniques and showcase an understanding of using various colors and values to create a unified artwork.
